Today we participated in the NC Big Sweep. We cleaned up litter at a local park, particularly around the banks of the creek that flows through the park. The water eventually leads to Jordan Lake, a drinking water source for about a million people.Besides the expected cans, bottles, and plastic bags, we also found three softballs, one baseball, one golf ball, a fake gold and fake jewel encrusted wristwatch, a lawn chair, and a few other items probably best left unmentioned.
My boys were reluctant at first, but once it became a treasure hunt, they didn't want to leave. If only I could convince them that their bedrooms are a much better treasure trove, and much
